It's been a rough few years for the arts in Canada's capital city, with the closure of the National Gallery of Canada, the departure of the Calgary Symphony, and the closure of the MacEwan Centre for the Performing Arts.
But there's good news in the form of $125,000 in grants from the Royal Canadian Mint, the CBC reports.
The grants, awarded through the Mint's charitable arm, the Royal Canadian Mint Foundation, went to nine organizations in Central Alberta, including the Central Alberta Food Bank, the Central Alberta Women's Shelter, and the Central Alberta Art Gallery.
"We are so grateful to the Royal Canadian Mint for this generous gift, which will allow us to continue to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community," says the executive director of the Central Alberta Women's Shelter. Read the Entire Article
