The Akron Community Foundation has awarded a $2.8 Million grant to arts organizations in Summit County. $509,000 of that money will be used for dance programs for the county. It will also fund programs likes the John S. & James L. Knight "Knight's Art Challenge." Some of the funds will be divided among several groups including the Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival, the Open Tone Music City, Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival.
Others monies will be received by the Akron Art Museum ($60,000), Akron Civic Center ($30,000), 6,000 tickets to the events will be given to economical disadvantage families and individuals.
Stan Hywet & Gardens will receive $40,000 for general operations for education culture and recreational enrichment programs.
