Knox County Public Library: Summer Music Adventures

"If you can teach yourself to play drums, then you can teach anyone," says Wacey Robertson, and that's exactly what he's been doing for more than a decade.

Robertson, a self-taught drummer who's performed with the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, and Ella Fitzgerald, will lead a summer music program at the Knox County Public Library in rural Knox County, Indiana, starting July 18, for kids ages 5 to 12.

Kids can bring their own instruments ( ukulele, guitar, bass, piano, etc.) and Robertson will teach them a two- chord song using rhythmic games, reports the Journal Gazette.

"The goal is to teach the kids a two- chord song using rhythmic games," says Robertson.

"I still love the old school country," he adds.

"Other pivotal artists that resonated with him early on included the outlaw country legends Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, along with balladeer Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline, and the smooth baritone vocals of Bing Crosby."
