The city of Boca Raton, Fla., has picked "one of the world's greatest design architects" to lead its new cultural complex, the Sun Sentinel reports.
Andrea Virgin, CEO of the Center for Arts and Innovation, says Renzo Piano's firm, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, will begin work on the Center for Arts and Innovation in late October.
"The international interest and ultimate selection of one of the world's greatest design architects underscores not only the global significance of this project, but the enormity of our supporters' courage, vision, and generosity," Virgin says in a statement.
Piano has designed projects around the world, including an airport in Japan, an Amsterdam museum, and the New York Times building in New York City, the Sun Sentinel reports.
The Center for Arts and Innovation is scheduled to be completed by late 2028 or early 2029.
