United Way Announces Community Mini Grants

"We are very excited to present these awards to these non-profit agenciesnot just existing United Way agenciesin our community who provide much-needed services to thousands of residents in Union County," says Alexis Alexander, executive director of the United Way of Union County.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports 10 non-profit groups in the county received a total of $5,000 in Community Impact Mini Grants from the United Way.

The grants were awarded April 5.

The recipients are: CALL in Union County to supportHOPE for the Journey conference.

The South Arkansas Caring Pregnancy Center to purchase diapers for expectant mothers.

The Union County Public Library System to help fund the Summer Reading Program.

El Dorado Connections Tri-County RSVP to purchase socks for seniors.

Fairview Community Outreach to purchase basic school supplies for their annual giveaway in August.

Camp Fire El Dorado to purchase diagnostic equipment for diabetics.

The Salvation Army to purchase medication for shelter clients.

The Illumnation Foundation to purchase recovery material for clients.
