Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Wales, are in Boston Sunday to hand out the Earthshot Prize, an environmental award inspired by President John F.

Kennedy's moonshot program, the BBC reports.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast on Sunday at 17:30 GMT on the BBC in the UK, and on Monday in the US.

The five Earthshot Prize finalists are: Notpla, a London start-up that makes packaging from seaweed and plants as an alternative to single-use plastic; the makers of a bubble pump designed to catch plastics before they reach the ocean; Oceana, a US-based nonprofit that aims to reduce the amount of plastic in our oceans; and three finalists from Australia: the makers of the world's first zero-waste vehicle, the Guardian reports.

Prince William has said the Earth is at a "tipping point" when it comes to environmental damage and he wants to "supercharge" the impact of the Earthshot Prize finalists to inspire a "despairing world."
