"To me, Thurmont means home." That's how Susan Favorite describes her hometown of Thurmont, Md., to the Frederick News-Post.
But the 51-year-old says she's more than happy to make that home a better place.
"I love that I can, in a small way, help to keep it wonderful and make it better for all who are fortunate enough to live here," she says.
That's why, in 2011, she founded the Make a Difference in Thurmont Fund, which has supported programs at local libraries, a church, and more.
"The area is family," Favorite says. "People I know since childhood still live here."
