Wcf Awards $57,601 to Local Nonprofits

The Benedictine Foundation of Winona, Minn., has given $57,601 to 10 local nonprofits.

Among the recipients: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region: $2,500 to expand the youth mentoring program in Winona by training more mentors.

Engage Winona: $4,550 to host a series of educational block parties with the goal of increasing civic participation in Winona.

Let's Erase the Stigma: $4,000 to enable the expansion of their expungement program in order to offer workshops year-round.

Project Get Outdoors: $7,500 to increase awareness of the importance of connecting people to nature for well-being and to offer childcare provider trainings.

Ready Set School: $5,000 to continue providing school supplies and clothing to children of families who are unable to afford back-to-school items.

Winona Area Youth Hockey Association: $5,335 to continue to provide protective equipment and skates to participants free of charge.

Sandbar Storytelling Festival: $2,500 to partner with the Winona Public Library and East End Rec Center to teach children the craft of storytelling.

Winona ORC: $4,436 to purchase bees as part of a new beekeeping program which aims to create more jobs for ORC's clients. Read the Entire Article
