You've heard the phrase "it takes a village," but that's exactly what Peter Buckley, chancellor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, was saying Tuesday when he announced a new health center for one of the city's most historic neighborhoods, the Commercial Appeal reports.

The UTHSC Health Hub: Soulsville will offer primary care for adults and children, health coaching, school nursing, youth intervention specialists for student behavioral health needs, and mental health counseling to residents of the Soulsville neighborhood, which is home to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

"They spoke about health like the World Health Organization talks about the state of health as complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and that's what we all deserve," Pat Mitchell Worley, chief executive officer of the Soulsville Foundation, tells the Appeal.

The hub, which will open in the fall, is a partnership with the Soulsville community, the Soulsville Foundation, and the Kemmons Wilson Family Foundation.

It's "an incredibly worthwhile project," Buckley says.

"It builds on what is already the foundation of this community and it gives us the opportunity to make a difference."

The hub will also serve thousands of students from elementary to college age, according Read the Entire Article
