If you're short on cash and want to do something about climate change, a not-for-profit investment platform in the UK may have just the thing for you.

Ethex, which launched in 2013, has raised more than $115 million for causes that make "a lasting impact on the planet," CEO Lisa Ashford says in a press release.

Some of the organizations that have received funding from the not-for-profit platform: Solar for Schools: Robert Schrimpff, founder of the nonprofit, wants to put solar panels on every single school in the UK.

"They're usually standard buildings, with relatively large roofs, their bills are always paid, they have predictable energy consumption," he tells the Guardian.

The group has installed solar panels on 258 schools, and students are learning about energy and carbon reduction.

Wenea: The company is building a public charging system that will be as plentiful as street lamps, so people can detect heat loss in their homes.

The Library of Things: Co-founder Rebecca Trevalyan says the 370,000-square-foot library is stocked with everything from screens to drills, andBorrowers pay a small rental fee rather than stumping up large amounts for items that will only be used occasionally.
