Sccf Announces 2023 Philanthropy Internship Grants

"Through the Philanthropy Internship Program, I have learned that philanthropy is less about giving to people and more about serving alongside them," Adri Silva says.

Silva is one of five University of the South students who have received a $30,000 grant from the South Cumberland Community Fund.

The fund is a partnership between the school's Community Fund and the University of the South, where the money comes from two endowments.

Students in the fund's Philanthropy Internship Program work with a grants committee to make grants.

This year's interns included Kendall Buck, Lily Brady, Delana Turner, Catherine Belser, and Emma Grace Hendrickson.

The internship helps students "learn broadly about philanthropy in America and apply those lessons to their own grantmaking," the Community Fund's director of community development says in a press release.

Among the interns' projects: BetterFi will add an online borrower's portal to their new loan platform to allow borrowers the opportunity to independently keep track of their loan data, see the current amount owed on their loan, make payments, and view an updated schedule."

Folks at Home supports its members through home and health support, and this lending library, with readings from Harvard Health, will help improve the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources," Hendrickson Read the Entire Article
