For six months, 1,084 people from 86 countries and regions showed off their skills in calligraphy and painting as part of the 23rd Chinese Bridge Calligraphy and Painting Contest, held in China for the first time this year, reports the South China Morning Post.
The works were judged by a jury that included a professor from Beijing Language and Culture University and the director of the Rongbaozhai Art Museum, per the People's Daily.
This year's contest featured more Chinese elements in the works, so "the authors must have spent a lot of time and energy on learning traditional Chinese culture," says Zhang Bing, a professor at Central University of Finance and Economics and a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association.
