Students Learn through Paid Internships at New York Nonprofits

Thanks to a hefty three-year grant from New York Gov.

Andrew Cuomo, this summer's interns at the New York Library Energy and Public Library, New York Library Climate Management and Administration, and the New York Garden Botanical Garden will be working for free through 2024, the New York Daily News reports.

The nonprofit internships are part of Cuomo's Climate Exchange program, which aims to give young people hands-on experience in nonprofit fields, and the governor's office says he's excited to see how they're doing.

Among the interns: Esra T., New York Library Energy and Public Library: "I am attending meetings with their stakeholders as well (big and small)," she says.

"I gained a lot of exposure to how everything works."

Esra's co-worker: "At the New York Library Climate Exchange I worked on policy proposals tackling important climate issues in New York," she says.
