Orange Education Foundation Honors 'People of Excellence'

The superintendent of New Jersey's Orange Public School District has resigned, effective immediately, in the wake of what the district calls a "personnel matter."

He was also the district's first African-American superintendent.

In a statement, the district called Lee's resignation "a personal tragedy for him, his family, and the Orange Public School District."

The district also thanked the Orange Education Foundation for its support of the district during Lee's tenure, which included the opening of the John Robert Lewis Early Childhood Center, the Orange Early Childhood Center, and the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges.
