City Awards $75000 in Community, Youth and Arts Grants

The city of Fremantle, Australia, has given more than $66,000 to 11 community, youth, and arts organizations in a bid to "make Freo a more inclusive, vibrant, and creative place," Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge says.

Among the projects: a 12-week music and drama therapy workshop for women and children who've experienced domestic violence; an after-school physical activity program for at-risk and disengaged youth; a teen writers program at the Fremantle Library; and a youth-focused nutrition education program for vulnerable youth, the West Australian reports.

"It's a reflection of our incredible place we live in that we are able to recognize the important work these organizations do for our community, for our young people, and for the arts," Fitzhardinge says.

"The City is proud to support their efforts to make Freo a more inclusive, vibrant, and creative place."
