When Shuler Hensley graduated from the Manhattan School of Music's musical theater program in 2012, she had no idea she'd become a two-time Tony Award-winner, a Grammy-winning jazz bassist, and the head of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
But that's just the beginning: The New York Times reports Hensley, who won a Tony for his performance in August Wilson's Fences, is now making a name for himself in the entertainment industry as a writer, producer, and director.
He's worked on shows including Sunday in the Park with George, Rent, and Rent, among others, and he's currently starring in a revival of Into the Woods, per a press release.
Hensley, who also won a Tony for his performance in Sunday in the Park with George, tells the Times he's always wanted to be a musician.
"I've always wanted to be on stage," he says.
