Rapzilla Freshmen 2024: V.I.P. Faith with Peedy Case

"My music cannot save anybody.

My art cannot save anybody.

Only Jesus can save."

That's Peedy Case's take on what it means to be a Christian hip-hop artist, and it's an interesting take on what he's been up to since becoming a born-again Christian in 2011, the Huffington Post reports.

"I want to make sonically competitive art and pray that I can plant seeds to bring people to the Savior," he says.

"My music cannot save anybody.

My art cannot save anybody.

If I can be a vessel that He uses to plant seeds, then that is all I can hope for."

Case, whose real name is Darrell Keaton, started rapping when he was in high school, but it wasn't until he took a creative writing class that he realized he had "a gift to think outside the box and be creative with words," he says, per the Huffington Post.

"It was inspiring how those artists were able to articulate what they were going through and in such clever ways," he adds, noting that he was initially unaware of Christian hip-hop or artists like Lecrae and Mineo.
