David Settles died in 2023, but his legacy will live on in a small North Carolina town with a $500 grant from the state.
The grant from the state's Department of Administration's State Youth Council and Youth Advisory Council will fund the creation of an arboretum in Mooresville in Settles' honor, reports the Charlotte Observer.
The arboretum will promote mental health awareness and provide a "tranquil place for area youth and the Mooresville community while promoting mental health awareness," says a press release from the local youth council.
