A 110-year-old library in Anna, Ill., will get some much-needed repair work thanks to a grant from the nonprofit Landmarks Illinois.
The Stinson Memorial Public Library will receive $2,500 to clean and repair the exterior of the building, which was built in the early 20th century and is now an "anchor" for the city's downtown, the Southern reports.
Other recipients of the $32,150 in grants from the Preservation Heritage Fund and Barbara C.Donnelley II Preservation Fund for Illinois include the Beardstown Grand Opera House, which will receive $1,650 for upgrades to its fire alarm system, and the National Museum of Gospel Music, which will receive $5,000 for an environmental study of Pilgrim Baptist Church, the birthplace of gospel music and the future home of a national gospel music museum, reports the Chicago Tribune.
