"From AI digital and other emerging technologies, this field is poised for rapid growth."
So says Gianfranco Zaccai in announcing Syracuse University's new Intelligence++ Ventures program, which aims to help people with intellectual disabilities commercialize their products and services.
As the school explains in a press release, Intelligence++ is a two-semester inclusive entrepreneurship and design course that encourages students from across campus to imagine and create products, devices, and services for persons with disabilities.
The new program is an extension of Intelligence++ and will help move student research, scholarly, or creative projects "from ideation to proof of concept and commercialization," says David Seaman, dean of the libraries and university librarian.
Zaccai, a 1970 Syracuse graduate, is donating $1 million to the program, which will be administered by the university's Libraries, in collaboration with other campus commercialization programs such as the Innovation Law Center, the New YorkSTAR Center for Advanced Technology, and the D'Aniello Institute Veterans and Military Environmental Families.
"Inclusive students can become part of the leading edge," says Zaccai.
