Students in one San Diego County school district are getting a big boost in funding for the visual and performing arts thanks to a state grant.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports on the Poway Unified School District's acceptance of a $20 million Arts, Music, and Instructional Materials Discretionary Block Grant, which will be spent over four years beginning with the 2022-23 school year and continuing through 2025-26.
About two-thirds of the grant money will go to visual and performing arts programs, while one-third will go to safety and security projects at the school.
The $2.5 million grant was spent on adding fencing and monitoring systems at schools, installing security cameras, upgrading entry systems, building shade structures, and windows, and more. Read the Entire Article
