Live Nation Announces Program to Offset Travel and Merch Costs for Touring Artists

Hoping to help artists make more money while they're on tour, Live Nation has launched a new program that will give touring artists $1,500 to spend on gas and travel over the next few months, Pitchfork reports.

The On the Road Again program will be offered at 77 club venues in North America, and Live Nation says it expects to disperse "tens of millions of dollars in extra earnings to club artists and crew" through the end of 2023.

In addition, Live Nation says it will donate $5 million to Crew Nation, a global relief fund for live music crews, and give bonuses to promoters, tour reps, and crew members who have worked more than 500 hours over the next five years.

The National Independent Venue Association calls the program "a calculated attempt to use a publicly-traded conglomerate's immeasurable resources to divert artists from independent venues and further consolidate control over the live entertainment sector."
