Union County, New Jersey, is putting its money where its mouth is.
Sergio Granados, chairman of the Union County Board of County Commissioners, has launched a scholarship program that will cover the cost of a child's tuition to attend a summer theater camp in 2023, the New York Daily News reports.
The four-week camp runs from July 3 to July 29 at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, and students in grades 2 through 5 are eligible.
The camp will stage two productions of Once on This Island Jr., one with a cast of students in grades 2-4, and one with a cast of students in grades 5-9.
"We are very proud to collaborate with the Union County Performing Arts Center and Theatrical Artists Prep to create new opportunities for students with theatrical aspirations to hone their skills and enjoy the experience of a summer theater production," Granados says in a press release.
