Western Indiana Community Foundation Announces Creative Places initiative

An Indiana community foundation is putting its money where its mouth is.

The Western Indiana Community Foundation is offering a second round of grants of up to $15,000 to projects that "activate or create public spaces to advance a more vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive community," the foundation says in a press release.

The first round of grants, totaling $65,000, was awarded to a number of groups in the county, including the Covington Public Library, Veedersburg Public Library, and the Friends of the Fountain County Fairgrounds.

"These county stakeholders learned a great deal about where we succeed and where we could do better," the press release says.

"They also learned that the communities within the broader community are very willing to engage and that being better requires that participants gather and work together."
