"If you like indie pop and fun stuff, it's perfect for you." That's how 22-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter Kennen describes his music, which he's been singing since he was 12. But it wasn't until he moved to Newmarket, Ontario, during the COVID 19 epidemic that he really started to hone his craft, per the CBC.
"I remember being in elementary school and just playing around with Garage loops in the school computer lab," says Kennen, who goes by the stage name Ken Gao. His first big break came in 2021 with the release of his EP Kennen's EP. "It's based on a real story," Kennen says of the song Timothée Chalamet. "I had a crush that looked like Timothée Chalemet. I decided to write about, I thought it was just something fun, something that I wouldn't have been able to prepare as a producer and send a demo to another artist, I knew I was the one who had to sing this."
